APKORP is a privately owned investment and development group with more than three decades of entrepreneurial history.
Our story
Our story began in 1992 with the family’s first activities in international trade, initially focused on textiles and consumer goods. From those beginnings, the business expanded into retail and, by the late 1990s, into real estate investment and development.
The first ground-up developments were completed in the late 1990s, beginning a real estate activity that has remained at the core of the family ever since.
Over the following decade, the group developed premium residential, office and commercial properties across Bucharest, completing landmark projects and a number of successful exits to major corporate buyers. Alongside its development activity, the family steadily built an extensive portfolio of land and property holdings, combining active development with long-term ownership.
Retail grew in parallel into an established network of stores, while the group’s activities expanded into construction and real-estate services. By the mid-2000s, the businesses employed approximately 400 people across their different operations.
Beginning in 2006 and for more than fifteen years, the family was an investor in the historic Știrbey Domain and Palace in Buftea, marking an important chapter in its involvement in hospitality and leisure and eventually leading to further investments in restaurants, bakeries and hospitality concepts.
Across more than three decades, businesses have been built, assets acquired, projects developed and investments made through very different industries and economic cycles. Throughout them, the group has remained privately controlled and fundamentally entrepreneurial.
A broader investment platform
In the 2020s, energy emerged as one of APKORP’s principal areas of activity. Through the origination, development and transaction of renewable generation and large-scale battery energy storage projects, the group has built a growing portfolio in the energy sector.
Our involvement extends across the development lifecycle: identifying opportunities, securing and assembling the essential components of a project, structuring partnerships and taking projects through development, investment or transaction.
Real estate remains fundamental to APKORP. Building on decades of development and investment experience, the group continues to develop new projects, acquire and reposition assets and selectively expand its property holdings.
At the same time, APKORP’s development activity increasingly extends beyond its established sectors. The group originates and participates in select opportunities involving complex assets, strategic resources and long-term development, typically alongside specialized partners.
This broader mandate reflects the way the family has approached business since its beginnings: not as a collection of predefined industries, but as an ability to recognize opportunity, assemble the right elements around it and create value over time.
Today, APKORP brings together this experience within a focused investment platform, with real estate and energy at its core, complemented by longstanding interests in retail and hospitality and a selective portfolio of strategic investments and development initiatives.
Our approach remains flexible. Depending on the opportunity, we may build from the ground up, acquire and reposition an existing asset, develop alongside partners, retain an investment for the long term or realize its value through a transaction.

A note from us
We have never been particularly good at standing still — or at limiting ourselves to what we already know. Some of our best decisions started with ideas that seemed slightly unreasonable at the time.
